Special Characteristics: 
Has rather heavy horns which spiral laterally from the head in a conspicuous manner; the coat consists of long black hair; in size and weight the Zaghawa resembles the Nubian goat of the Sudan; however, it is not a riverain, village animal like the latter, but is bred by pastoralists in the arid uplands; the females are much poorer milkers than the Nubian (Epstein, 1971).
Main Location: 
Found in northern and northwestern Darfur, and adjoining areas in Chad; raised intermingled with the Zaghawa sheep (Epstein, 1971).
